meg_is_asleep skittish has been one of my tethers during the pandemic. I don't know how to describe it, but the music just sits right with me. This new album came out right before an unpleasant doctor's appointment, so I had something to cheer me up afterwards :) Favorite track: Foulbrood.

Ready or Not 02:50
There’s something in the air, the humming of the street As you’re pulling you’re hands away from the cold up into your sleeves Ten times a minute We were young, so young, but life goes on I can hear the future calling Ready or Not Reach up where tails of the city lights twirl around Where the moon shines down persistent, insistent, we howl Ten times a minute We were young, so young, but life goes on It only takes a minute To stand your ground, to turn it around I can hear the future calling Ready or Not Ten times a minute We were young, so young, but life goes on It only takes a minute To stand your ground, to turn it around How come all the moments that make us are simple things? Putting on the songs that remind us of when we were kings I can hear the future calling Ready or Not

I believe its gonna be a good year Sipping on that bubbly, and singing Auld Lang Syne I Promised I’d be on my best behavior But sometimes clothes are in the lawn and there’s fireworks inside After all the flames are out you’re next to me, next to me.. No we’ll never need a lighter You and I get on like a house on fire, living on gasoline Baby, baby, ride with me No I never knew another To burn me like I like it, like a house on fire Pyro in a pink tee roaring in the twenties Baby, baby, ride with me Come inside and we can find a new game Kitchen drawer down on the left, on the left Underneath the batteries, rubber bands, orphan keys A half used match book that I got from some crummy old hotel (I think I know where this is going) No one knows we’re going (Please don’t spoil the ending for me) No one knows I’ve been through Stop, drop, where you rolling? If you go crazy, I’ll go too That’s where I’m going You make the old seem new again, new again No we’ll never need a lighter You and I get on like a house on fire, living on gasoline Baby, baby, ride with me No I never knew another To burn me like I like it, like a house on fire Pyro in a pink tee roaring in the twenties Baby, baby, ride with me

Freak Show 02:56
Doors are open, they never close One admission and one more soul What’re you running away from? Wide-eyed eager, we try our luck With pretty people and pickled punks This place is like a freak show, need no ticket Freak show, now I call it home Step out side of that straight line Bite my tongue and bide my time We belong Step out side of that straight line Give ‘em what you got in the meantime For the freak show Conversations behind closed doors They buy the weather and sell us more Someone told me there’s a sucker born each minute Freak show, now I’m in it, home Step out side of that straight line Bite my tongue and bide my time We belong Step out side of that straight line Give ‘em what you got in the meantime When the wows from the mouths of the masses come Gather your guts the show must go on Keep your grind up through slings and arrows Now you’re family, now you’re home Step out side of that straight line Bite my tongue and bide my time We belong Step out side of that straight line Give ‘em what you got in the meantime Cause the only monsters here are dancing Right behind their eyes For the freak show

Foulbrood 03:32
Taking it in, you’re seeing it all Must be the same, outside the frame of your window You get the gist, and confidence too You got a pane, and you got a view from your window It may be a height that’s different than mine A brand or a bay of extravagant size (they’re all windows) But sure as the milk and honey is sweet The tide that is swelling outside of your street will come Bang bang that’s the sound of an ocean Knocking on your double-locked doors Bang bang what’s with all the commotion? Floating down the gold corridors Queen bee, crack it open, feel the breeze It’s a long way down Rattle the walls, shaking the earth When you were coming up you had it much worse Yeah, you know me You’ve seen the face of a worker or two From office to car to the room with a view Yeah, you know me Taking a pen and drawing a line Over my toe and backwards in time Well you’re always right Bang bang that’s the sound of an ocean Knocking on your double-locked doors Bang bang what’s with all the commotion? Floating down the gold corridors Queen bee, point your finger right at me It’s a long way down Bang bang that’s the sound of an ocean Knocking on your double-locked doors Bang bang what’s with all the commotion? Who you think we’re doing this for? Queen bee, crack it open, feel the breeze It’s a long way down

Here’s another fine mess that we’re found in Didn’t know, didn’t mean what I said when I was on a darkened road Only saw where my headlights shown Here’s another hotel that we haunted Tethered to, circle you, like an orbit I was in a cotton sheet Poking holes big enough to see That colors come in other palettes Greener grass and golden silence Lies of white, no heart of darkness I can finally see I got this Whole world of open doors I’ll see you when I see ya Here’s another fine mess that I’m found in Tied up to the mast in a strong wind But I don’t need to be aboard Views are fine, words are kind on shore Where colors shine but need reminding Rivers run when they ain’t winding Shy aurora borealis Coming out to swim inside this Whole world of open doors Where colors come in other palettes Greener grass and golden silence Lies of white, no heart of darkness I can finally see I got this Whole world of open doors I’ll see you when I see ya Run, run, wild and free To that little place down by the sea Where the past and futures meet And evening lingers til I fall asleep
